In India’s Hindi film, or one of the oldest and most famous film awards. Since 1954 this award is being given. In 1956, a special voting procedure for the award was introduced. A panel appointed by the Government at the National Film Award winners set. The winners of both people and an experienced committee vote are elected.
As of 2016, there are total 31 awards given in different categories. Some of the categories which have been discontinued, are also mentioned along with the years through which they prevailed.
