Budhi Kunderan was a wicketkeeper-batsman who represented the Indian national team in 18 Tests.  He was born in 1939 in Mulki, Karnataka. He made his first class debut for the Cricket Club of India against the touring West Indies side in 1958-59. After two first class matches, he was selected to play Test for India against Australia in the very next year. Many a times he lost his wicketkeeping position to Farokh Engineer. In 1963-64, on the eve of the first Test against England at Madras, Farokh was found medically unfit. Kunderan opened the innings hitting 192 with 31 boundaries. He scored another century at Delhi scoring an aggregate of 525 runs in the series. He scored 79 against the West Indies at Mumbai in 1966-67. On the tour to England in 1967, he and Farokh both were included in the side. While Farokh kept wickets, Kunderan played as a batsman in the second and third Test. He played Test cricket before his Ranji trophy debut. He represented Railways and later Mysore in Ranji trophy. He is one of the eight players to score a double century on their first Ranji trophy match. He also played for Scotland in the Benson and Hedges Cup in England in the early 1980s. He passed away in 2006 in Scotland at the age of 66 years.
