    Eknath Solkar was a former Indian cricketer who represented India in 27 Tests and 7 ODIs. He was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium pace bowler and also a left-arm slow bowler as he could bowl fast as well as slow. He was born in 1948 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was famous for his outstanding close fielding. His brilliant catches helped India register their first Test series win in England in 1971. Apart from excellent fielding, he was also instrumental with the bat and ball, playing some useful knocks and capturing vital wickets in several memorable victories for India. He represented Bombay in domestic competition. He also had an impressive record in first class cricket as a batsman, bowler and fielder. He retired from international cricket in 1977. He passed away in 2005 at the age of 57 years.
