     HPC systems usage in Supermicro company.

    Supermicro’s product line includes motherboards, servers, workstations, rackmounts, blade servers, and storage. Supermicro delivers a wide range of affordable solutions and offers a broad portfolio to cover mainstream computing needs. It also provides customers with green computing solutions that reduce power consumption while increasing recyclable materials in their manufacturing process. Superpower is an initiative by the company to build up the electronic industry’s green capability by selling energy-efficient hardware devices. Superpower components are part of the Supermicro Green Computing Center, offering various green computing solutions that save energy, reduce CO2 emissions, and minimize waste and recycling footprint.

    1. Research labs hpc solutions

    Supermicro’s lab solutions are based on the latest Intel Xeon processor platforms and feature generic rackmount chassis and optimized solutions for physics, life sciences, bioinformatics, and virtualization environments. Supermicro provides customers with a wide range of high-performance, high-density, and cost-effective rackmount systems that support common needs such as data acquisition (DAQ), machine vision, high-performance computing (HPC), business-critical applications, and virtualization.

    2. Media and entertainment.

    Supermicro solutions for the media and entertainment market are designed for the most demanding content creation applications such as animation, audio-video post-production, digital content delivery, and video editing. Supermicro’s integrated platform of server, storage, and I/O solutions can simplify and accelerate media production workflows – from concept to completion.

    3. Oil and gas

    Supermicro recently announced the industry’s first hpc system powered by the Intel® Atom™ processor that runs at 2.6 GHz and utilizes the Intel® Hyper-Threading technology. This system provides customers scalability, high performance, low TCO, and low cost per rack space unit.

    4. Artificial intelligence and machine learning.

    Supermicro offers comprehensive AI and ML-based platform solutions for HPC systems and IT research. This family of systems is designed to meet research groups’ needs and support multidisciplinary machine-learning researchers. The products range from servers, workstations, all-in-one platforms supporting Intel Xeon® processors, and Supermicro’s line of 3U-scale AI workstations optimized for highly parallel applications.

    5. Financial services.

    Supermicro’s financial services solutions are based on the latest Intel Xeon processor platforms. They feature generic rackmount chassis and optimized quantitative finance, risk modeling, and portfolio management solutions. Supermicro provides customers with a wide range of high-performance, high-density, and cost-effective rackmount systems that support common financial needs such as data acquisition (DAQ), real-time trading, risk modeling, and portfolio management.

    6. HPC systems is used to help develop cures for diseases

     Scientists use high-performance computing (HPC) technology to understand and treat human diseases, ranging from cancer to Alzheimer’s. Supermicro’s HPC systems provide a highly scalable platform to run complex simulations while reducing the time it takes to create new treatments, diagnoses, and cures.

    7. Supercomputers help drive R&D in aerospace and defense. 

    Supercomputing is at the core of Supermicro’s advanced technology R&D for aerospace and defense. The company’s low-power, high-performance Supercomputing (SC) systems support applications such as simulation, virtual prototyping, finite element analysis, fluid dynamics, and thermal modeling. Supermicro’s Altix® servers are designed to provide the right mix of power, density, and high performance to handle mission-critical tasks.

    8. HPC is used to design new products.

    Supermicro’s HPC systems platforms have been deployed to help design new products and deliver innovative solutions that meet specific customer requirements.
